Publisher's Synopsis
The 4th World Water Congress featured an exciting technical programme bringing together the perspectives of research and practice, and covering all aspects of water and wastewater services within a context of sustainable catchment and basin management. From this large and high-quality programme papers are being selected following peer review for publication in this journal. This issue contains 50 papers selected from the sessions on innovation in drinking water treatment and operation of water systems. Topics covered include: adsorption; biological treatment of drinking water; coagulation and colour removal; design, operation and management of drinking water treatment plants; disinfection and disinfection byproducts; membranes in drinking water treatment; ozone and advanced oxidation of drinking water; removal of selected contaminants; smart technologies for system design and operation; system management (including instrumentation and control); and water quality in distribution systems (including monitoring and management). These articles report some of the latest advances in research, policy and practical applications relating to drinking water treatment and the operation and management of water supply systems.
