Publisher's Synopsis
The 4th World Water Congress featured an exciting technical programme bringing together the perspectives of research and practice, and covering all aspects of water and wastewater services within a context of sustainable catchment and basin management. From this large and high-quality programme papers have been selected following peer review for publication in this journal. This issue contains papers selected from the sessions on operation and management of wastewater treatment and sewerage systems and impacts on the water environment. The selected papers cover work on local and appropriate solutions for rural/developing areas; management; modelling and decision support; design, operation and management of wastewater treatment plant; instrumentation and control; design, operation and management of sewerage systems; managing the water environment; and monitoring and analysis of environmental contaminants. These articles report some of the latest advances in applied research and development for wastewater treatment and sewerage technologies and best practice in their application for management of the water environment.
