Publisher's Synopsis

This book is one of the Pitman Publishing series of textbooks which are written to cover the post-Wilkinson syllabi of stage 2 exams of the banking diploma of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB). The author, P.Ross MacNamara, has taught accountancy to stage 2 students for nearly ten years, and has found that entrants to stage 2 accountancy need to revise the major areas of accounting. In particular, the graduate direct entrants, whose degrees were in subjects totally unconnected to accountancy, desperately needed a gentle breaking-in into accounting principles. Consequently, the early chapters of this book are devoted to revision and introduction to basic principles of accounting methods.
