Publisher's Synopsis

This book is a compilation of eight chapters on the advancements in biology. Chapter one assesses the physiological, biochemical, and molecular impacts of environmental conditions on microalgal lipids and lipid metabolisms. Chapter two evaluates the physiological, biochemical, and molecular impacts of HMs contamination on Azolla species, shedding light on the potential application of this plant for phytoremediation purposes. Chapter three aims to provide a comprehensive review of electrical signals associated with herbivory in plants, encompassing ecological perspectives, signal types, generation mechanisms, detection, analysis techniques, and future applications. Chapter four highlights the diversity of gut microbiota and lactic acid bacteria present in the GI tract and reviews important findings associated with alterations of gut microbiota in H. pylori-infected humans and mice, and clinical trials that use probiotics and bacteriocins as alternative or adjunctive therapies for the treatment of H. pylori infection. In chapter five the expansion of R radiobacter strain R58 in the eukaryotic biocenosis in northern Germany is studied using gravitational mass spectroscopy (GMS). The authors in chapter six study the effect of oral exposure to MTBE on histologic and histomorphometric changes of testis in adult rats and investigate the effect of MTBE on offspring sex ratio, sex hormones and antioxidant enzyme. In the final chapter, the basic topology of the molecular architecture of the chromosomes of the onion Allium cepa from China and northern Germany is studied using the gravitational mass spectroscopy (GMS) method.
