Publisher's Synopsis

One of the main social challenges in developed countries is the possibility of modulating neural circuits with different energy sources, which has changed the way in which brain neurodegenerative disorders and associated motor problems are treated and understood, as well as their impact on basic psychological processes. The importance of this issue is revealed by the main policy priorities across several countries, which includes topics about the potential of new tools, technologies and digital solutions for a healthy society. However, there is a need to address the limitations of applied techniques, registration models and clinical data accumulated in numerous neurodegenerative diseases with altered motor patterns, as well as basic cognitive processes at the multicenter level. This will improve the effective use of more data and new methods and tools which will allow researchers and psychologists to advance the understanding of risk factors, causes, development and optimal treatment in areas of cognitive damage or alterations through neuromodulation. In this book, we will go deepen and disseminate knowledge about the current uses of neuromodulation and the main outcomes in human translation. We will also approach the need of analysis and interpretation of neuromodulation data, as well as its combination with data from brain records (EEG, fNIRS, MEG) that are especially useful to understand the impact of neuromodulation on cognitive function. This knowledge will allow the development of effective strategies, in order to avoid or reduce risk factors for the development of mental and behavioral disorders, as well as the associated comorbidities in adult life.
