Your students become a part of the Pathfinder team and learn how to calculate liftoff, arrival times, and the length of a journey to Mars. Coupled with Crustal Encounter, Space: The Final Frontier, or Fossil Dig, you can enact a simulation based upon current events and NASA procedures and data. While advancing from cadet to chief astrogator, your students learn how to navigate in space. You will find self-programmed instruction for individual use set up in a learning center format, all materials and background information for teacher and student, applied mathematical problems in astronomy and physics, explanations for solutions and all answers, suggested alternative sequences of activities for grades 3–4, 5–6, and 7–10, 16 multidisciplinary activities, resource booklets on planetary time, gravity, and the principles of rocketry (Newton’s Laws of Motion).
