A charter bus full of middle school band students while being transported to a state competitive meet in Grand Junction was swallowed up in what was going to be reported as the worst avalanche in Colorado history.The retrieval of that bus and its students was going to be something that rescuers and experts alike were going be taxed to the max. Their job was not to retrieve bodies. It was going to be a herculean event of epic proportions to avert a potential tragedy. But they had to work fast. They only had 6 hours since there was only so much breathable air inside that bus which was covered by over 84 feet of snow and ice.Then enter the ingenuity of a small group of engineering students from the Colorado Engineering Institute. Were they going to emerge as the real heroes or just a group of students who were assisting in what was turning out to be a hopeless rescue effort?
