Publisher's Synopsis
The biography of the magazine Mawaqif (1968-1994) is the tumultuous story of a generation of Arab Leftist intellectuals in the late 20th century. This story is set in Beirut as the hotspot of a trans-Arab intelligentsia and of Arab periodical publishing during the Cold War. The study conceives of magazines and 'doing' them as a constitutive practice of the modern Arab intellectual.
