The American Legion Ohio 12th District Council has existed in Central Ohio for a century. During those years, the many officers who have served in it have striven hard to maintain and pursue the basic ideals of The American Legion, centered around its four pillars: maintaining a strong National Defense, supporting veterans, mentoring our youth, and upholding the patriotism and honor that have given this country its greatness.Those thousands of men and women who are or were once part of this proud organization have endeavored to strengthen and to encourage it through their plans and activities. Throughout the years, the Council has created a rich tradition of service and commitment to the Columbus area, especially to our veterans, our children, and to its the community members. At times it has not been an easy trip. Often throughout the Council's history, serious roadblocks and issues have challenged their efforts. Still, the 12th District Council has persevered, and today, it still stands as a pillar to Franklin County, as well as serving as a distinguished honorable instrument of progress, a formidable presence, and a dedicated ally to our veterans.This is their story.
