This one-off publication is the ultimate company law historical reference work allowing you to know exactly what was in force at a particular date during the change of regime from the Companies Act 1985 to the Companies Act 2006. It includes the complete text of the Companies Act 1985 as at 7th November 2006, as it stood prior to any Companies Act 2006 amendments or repeals. It offers a second version of the Companies Act 1985 showing what was repealed/amended and when, with full notes for each section up to 1st October 2010. It is supported by other key information including tables of origin/destination for the Companies Act 2006, Companies Act 1985 model articles and the Companies Act 2006 commencement orders which contain savings regarding the repeal of the Companies Act 1985 provisions. Note for the 25th edition (publishing 2011) of Butterworths Company Law Handbook: in all instances where provisions of the Companies Act 1985 have been repealed they will be removed from this edition (the same applies where SIs made under it have been revoked or have lapsed or become spent). Skeleton notes for all repealed sections will be included. In cases where the repeal is with transitional provisions and savings there will be detailed notes as to the effect of those transitional provisions etc and cross-reference to the source of the transitional provisions. In the case of SIs that have been revoked (or have lapsed or become spent) we will include notes for the SI in Part 4. This will be a detailed note explaining that it has been revoked etc and, again, cross-referencing to any relevant transitional provisions and savings.
