With over three thousand people on the waiting list for operations, Gerry wants answers.Programme TwoTwo months in, and Sir Gerry is finding the going tough; tensions between the Consultants and hospital management are making it difficult for him to get anything done. When he discovers a staff shortage in theatre, Gerry is stunned that the situation has gone unresolved for so long, proving to him that there is no day-to-day management happening here. WhatÆs more shocking to him is that some of the nurses had never seen, let alone met, the Chief Executive before.Programme ThreeIn this final programme in the series, Gerry is running out of time and patience. HeÆs made some progress; waiting times in one department have dropped from 8 weeks to 2 weeks, heÆs getting the surgeons to use their time in theatres more effectively, and extra nursing staff is helping theatres run more efficiently. But thereÆs something that still needs work: The Chief Executive, Brian James. Gerry wants him to start leading the organization by getting out of his office and engaging with the staff at every level.
