Publisher's Synopsis
Collection of 19 classic films starring Cary Grant. In 'Operation Petticoat' (1959), Matt Sherman (Grant) is skipper of the U.S.S. Sea Tiger, a submarine forced out to sea by an enemy air attack. He is less than impressed by his newly-arrived junior officer, Lieutenant Nick Holden (Tony Curtis), who nevertheless manages to scavenge the spare parts and supplies needed to keep the sub in action. However, matters are complicated when five stranded army nurses are taken on board, and assist with the renovation... In 'Blonde Venus' (1932), after giving up her dreams of stardom to marry, aspiring actress Helen Faraday (Marlene Dietrich) discovers that her scientist husband, Edward (Herbert Marshall), is suffering from radium poisoning. In order to raise the cash for a cure Helen finds work as a cabaret hostess, and is romanced by wealthy playboy Nick Townsend (Grant). Nick gives Helen the money for her husband's treatment, and she takes up residence in her new beau's empty mansion - only for her indiscretion to be discovered when Edward recovers more speedily than she expected. In 'Charade' (1963), Regina 'Reggie' Lampert (Audrey Hepburn) returns home after a skiing trip to discover that her husband has died. At the funeral she finds out from CIA agent Hamilton Bartholomew (Walter Matthau) that her husband was involved in the theft of a quarter of a million dollars during World War Two. The charming Peter Joshua (Grant) offers his help, but as the number of dead bodies increases so do Peter's aliases, and Reggie becomes uncertain whether or not she can trust him. In 'Suspicion' (1941), Lina McLaidlaw (Joan Fontaine) lives in an English manor house with her wealthy parents, and never has any suitors. That is, until the charming Johnny Aysgarth (Grant) sweeps her off her feet and proposes to her. The couple are soon married, despite opposition from Lina's father, but Lina becomes suspicious when Johnny lies to her over losing his job. When Johnny's friend Beaky (Nigel Bruce) dies mysteriously after losing interest in a real estate deal they were planning together, Lina suspects Johnny of murder, and comes to believe that she will be his next victim. In 'Bringing Up Baby' (1938), eccentric heiress Susan Vance (Katharine Hepburn) steals a dinosaur bone from absent-minded paleontologist David Huxley (Cary Grant), forcing him to track her down to her Connecticut farm. Along the way he runs into trouble with the authorities and a possible sponsor for his museum, and ends up looking after Susan's pet leopard, 'Baby'.
