In preparing it I have had two objects in view, namely to produce a book, Which should be [i] of some, even if that some be little, historical value, and [2] sufficiently readable to interest those who may take it up. How far I have succeeded, it is for others, not myself, to judge. Beyond this I have nothing to say its regards my own part therein, but I have a heavy obligation to acknow ledge to others for the assistance Which they have given me.
