Publisher's Synopsis
Every culture has its creation myth. Do you think you know how it all happened? How we became who we are? Let me tell you a story that will shake you to your foundations. It all started with a bizarre vision - the extraordinary experience - I had while in a prolonged coma. This happened quite some time ago, when I was doing my surgical residency at the University of Strasbourg Hospital, in Alsace. I had operated on a patient who was suffering from hepatitis; I accidentally nicked myself, and ended up with a severe case of the illness. It was touch-and-go for weeks, and, yes, I almost died. In the end, having overcome a range of nasty complications, I lucked out and survived the ninety-percent mortality of that particularly horrid strand of Hep. Between nick and cure, though, I passed nearly four months in a state of coma-like aphasia. When I finally came about, I was not sure what world I had returned to! I was told that I cried out "What happened?" and then "Did the diaspora program succeed?" And then, I said, "I have to transmit the coordinates of the electromagnetic field on the Moon! KEROPS' dynasty must survive!" I said all that just back from the brink of death. Utter nonsense, products of a fevered brain, no doubt - right? My exertions landed me in the psych ward for observation. My colleagues thought I had lost it. Unsure of what reality was at that point, I opted to change tack and behave as was expected of me. It's good to know the ropes... It saved me a long stay in the nuthouse. And here I am, finally, sure of what really happened, and ready to tell the world about it here. And I did live through the events I detail here, no matter whether I convince you or not. I became one with extraordinary others from a distant world, and witnessed their attempt to save their civilization through an unthinkable and likely-lethal interstellar stratagem. In the end they saved as much the essence of who they were, in setting a new world on the course of creation, as they became the catalysts of who we have become today.
