Practitioners in the criminal courts must be able to deal daily with practical problems in the law of evidence and this second edition of "Criminal Evidence" aims to provide a guide to this complex but essential topic. The law is set out in four well-structured sections, covering proof, exclusionary rules, the exceptions to those rules, and trial rules. Developments since the publication of the first edition in 1986 included are Part II of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 as well as the changes to the law on the evidence of children and documentary evidence.;It also includes case law which has appeared since the first edition, including the decision of the House of Lords in "Hunt" on the burden of proof, "Fulling, Delaney, Alladice, Mason" and other cases on the admissibility of confessions under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, "Spencer" and "Chance" on corroboration and "Robertson" on the admissibility of previous convictions. Two new chapters have been added to cover the developing areas of unfair evidence, and the evidence of photographs and recordings.
