Publisher's Synopsis

Ten-year-old Charley is angry and fed up with having to be her mother's cook but feels that she has no choice. Her mother drives herself so hard at work that Charley spends most of her time alone. When her mother breaks down in front of her, she contacts Aunt Jamie, who arranges an island holiday for Charley and her mother.

When they arrive, the young girl discovers that the local, magical inhabitants have been expecting her. She is to fulfil a prophecy by saving the island from an unspecified danger. However, her mother thinks the hotel, the only one on the island, is not up to standard and wants to leave immediately. Charley and her new friends must find a way to change her mind so that they can do what is needed. The owners of the hotel have no regard for the effects of their actions on the flora and fauna of the island. Now, they are secretly plotting to make money in a way that will cause damage, destruction and decay. Will Charley be able to help stop this from happening and restore the island to its natural state?
