Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) was adopted as the world's time standard at the Washington Meridian Conference in 1884 where they also established Universal Time from which the international 24-hour time-zone system grew. This is why all time zones refer to GMT on the prime meridian which is located at Greenwich, in the United Kingdom. Since that time, in order to define a more accurate time based on the earth's rotation, UT1, the Coordinated Universal Time is used. For this book, we have chosen GMT as our time of choice. Thus, separated by one hour, plus or minus, the events in this book all happened simultaneously around the world as we humans go through any given day without ever realizing the circumstances that each of us faces. Children are born, tragedy is averted, human trafficking is prevented, wild animals are saved, along with countless other dilemmas all occurring in a 24 hour period.
