Richard Sennett highlights the concept of craftwork activities, which includes the ancient professions of potter or glassblower as well as the creator of Wikipedia, or even the ability of parents to educate their children. In this way, craftsmanship understands cultural material and tacit knowledge to be goods of social capital: knowledge and ability that is transmitted through social interaction. Finally, the basic motivation of the craftsman to do a job well for the simple satisfaction of it being completed is the humanist concept upon which of all of the authors books are based.
