The author bases his reflection on two specific geographical locations: the Jewish ghetto in Renaissance Venice, in which he studies the consequences of segregationespecially the two social classes inhabited by the Jews and the prostitutes and Europe at the beginning of the XIXth century, where a new concept of nationhood was born.
