Publisher's Synopsis
This publication on EU law by the law firm Stibbe Simont Monahan Duhot follows two earlier publications by the same law firm which were published in 1989 and 1990 on the European internal market and on industrial relations in the EU. The topic chosen for this issue is the environment and the EU, in particular its legal and political dimensions. The field of environmental law and policy is becoming increasingly important and this is reflected in the considerable number of legislative acts on environmental issues that have been issued in the last couple of years.;As is the case with other EU issues conflicts of interest between European and national priorities are bound to arise, also in the case of environmental law. In this sense the Court of justice plays an important mediating role. Environment and Europe was prepared by Martijn van Empel, Onno W. Brouwer, Yves Comtois, David Kirkpatrick and Pierre Larouche.
