But they won't see you; they will be looking through you to a world of magic and mountains connecting them with nature. The intention of this book is for you to grow into a living loving storymother or storyfather. How can we strengthen ourselves and our new ones, our innocent ones - for our future and theirs? Stories have always been here to guide us. The genuine fairytales restory our nature, confirm us as part of a breathing, living universe. This book is full of simple tools to open the gift of storytelling, stories of kinship to wolf cub, clean water and strawberries. Tales to reclaim our forests, our heritage of myth and wonder.  Fairytales, Families and Forests encourages parents and teachers of young children to tell stories in their family or pre-school. There is a chapter for each year of the child's life, including age specific stories, verses, games and how to use them, from birth up until age 7. Each year will include ideas for celebrating the seasons, for participation, for harnessing rhythm and rhyme, puppets and crafts. A generous number of stories and verses will be offered for each year in the child's life as examples. References will be made to research on the effect on children of technology vs. storytelling. The ethical content of traditional tales, and the expression of different temperaments will be baked into the material.
