The papers were grouped under three heads: TECHNICAL, CULTURAL, and HISTORICAL. One conclusion which emerged from the Conference was that future ethnological research in this important field, whether narrowly or widely focussed, should be conducted in the knowledge that the three aspects are complementary and inter-active. It also became apparent that much work remains to be done in the correlation and comparison of traditional conservation techniques in different parts of the world.
