Publisher's Synopsis

Emma, a young orphan girl, takes lunch packs to the local glass factory in the summer of 1881. While watching objects being made, a glass ship becomes real to her - she meets her mother on board before the vision vanishes. From then on, glass objects seem to trigger weird changes. A glass swan turns her into a fully-feathered one; a lemonade bottle drinks her; a Roman glass vase takes her back to Ancient Rome; a pair of cheap spectacles lets her see through walls...Hasn't she enough problems, a servant to her adoptive family and stubbornly believing her parents to be alive? Changing shape and entering other worlds can get you into serious trouble. It's like having a fever you can't control. But is the glass trying to tell her things? After further visions Emma starts to search for her parents. She befriends the son of the factory owner, but he is kidnapped! Can she save him, and find her parents?
