Publisher's Synopsis

Greenhouse crop production is now a growing reality throughout the world, with an estimated 405 000 ha of greenhouses spread throughout Europe. This publication aims to capitalize on the know-how and experience available in the South East European region and to serve as a training guide for trainers and a technical reference for growers and stakeholders in the greenhouse vegetable value chain. It will contribute to ensuring sustainable intensification practices of vegetable production under protected cultivation conditions. Greenhouse cultivation is particularly suited to offset the effects of climate change since, by definition, greenhouse cultivation is based on controlled climate parameters including temperature, humidity, light and day length, wind and CO2 concentration. The book reviews current knowledge which it translates into detailed and comprehensive practical advice to enable increased and sustainable productivity levels.
