Half-life of a Miracle presents a decade of photography and film by British contemporary artist Pat Flynn from 2005 to 2015.Curator, Kate Jesson introduces the many starting points for Flynn's digital imagery, ranging from the Wizard of Oz to Ronald Reagan via still life painting and American faith healer Peter Popoff. She provides an overview of how his work makes fiction appear as fact to highlight and question the reliability of our belief systems.Cold Children, by writer and critic Daniel C. Blight, takes the form of a fictional short story to focus on issues around childhood memory, identity and education. Blight imagines a situation for the absent subjects of Flynn's photographs that contain only places and objects.Published alongside an exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery, 25 September 2015 - 17 April 2016.
