Publisher's Synopsis
It's the near future, and in Paris, bombs explode in the Metro and the children of immigrants are kidnapped by angry mobs. The far-right French Front, having gained political power, is increasing its hostility to foreigners, especially those from Africa, the Middle East and Asia, while retaliations by radical immigrant factions have Paris under siege. American Will seeks refuge from the politics of the US Foreign Service in the arms of his former lover Pedro in this dark and rootless city. There he becomes involved with another American abroad, Jorie, when the child in her care is kidnapped by a French Nationalist gang. Fighting against a rising tide of anti-immigrant hatred, the three Americans launch a desperate search across the city. Now Will must challenge the moral burdens of his past and, in an attempt to rescue the child, find a way to redeem himself.
