This is the story of my seven years in China: the nuances, intrigues, and peculiarities of a country about which I had many misconceptions. This is the first part of a two-volume series; and begins the night I first landed in Shanghai, and my first big dinner, after arriving. I wrote this book as a guide to the traveler, coming to China; so that you won't be too blown away by the country you see, when you get here. I was privileged to travel to numerous locations, around China; and, so, saw the variety that this country -- as well as Hong Kong -- has to offer.
