Publisher's Synopsis
The main purpose of the muscular system is movement. The muscles help with fine and gross movement. The masseters, or jaw muscles, are the strongest. The heart is the largest and most active muscle in the body. It beats over three billion times in a human's lifetime and pumps blood to all areas of the body. While most of our muscles are active, some movements are reflexive. The tendons that attach to our bones help support the joints. The muscles in our shoulder and knee joints contribute to joint stability. The core is composed of the abdominal, back, and pelvis and provides stabilization to the body.
