Publisher's Synopsis

National NEWPIN is an independent voluntary organization which successfully works with parents suffering from depression or feelings of loneliness, to create fundamental personal change in both the parents and children. Its unique approach seeks to raise the self esteem of the mothers and children and the quality of life of the whole family rather than to treat specific problems in isolation. Research studies show how NEWPIN succeeds in confronting and altering the life patterns which can cause abuse, helps to break the cyclical effect of destructive family behaviour, and empowers women to gain control of their lives. This book looks in detail at NEWPIN's innovative process based on the results of a research project into this work.
