Phonics Assessment Kit

The Phonics Assessment Kit provides a tool to test pupils phonics understanding at the end of each phase of a phonics teaching programme. The kit includes 16 reading books which provide unseen, carefully structured texts, accompanied by Running Reading Records for each book. There are four for each phase from 2 to 5, two fiction and two non-fiction titles. The Kit enables teaching staff to ensure all pupils are ready for the phonics screening check. Pick up which pupils are struggling and where they are struggling. Use this resource for ongoing assessment of pupils' phonics progress and identify any pupil who is falling behind the programme's pace. For children who have fallen behind use the focus books to give targeted support. Using the Kit teachers can ensure every child learns to read and no child is left behind. Giving confidence to move on to the next phase in their phonics teaching. The contents of the kit include: 16 accurately levelled and engaging texts, including two fiction and two non-fiction books for each phase, from Phase 2 to Phase 5. A photocopiable running record sheet for each text A Procedures card which covers the recommended steps to ensure all reading assessment data is consistent and valid A CD-ROM with printable copies of the Running Reading Records and PDF sheets for summary assessment sheets for each pupil.
