Publisher's Synopsis
John Gilling directs this 1950s drama starring Jane Hylton, Derek Bond and Dora Bryan. In search of a new life, Jane Foster (Hylton), who was previously married to a criminal, moves to the seaside to take over a pub known as The Quiet Woman with the help of her trusted friend Elsie (Bryan). Despite her best intentions, Jane finds herself powerless to resist the charms of Duncan McLeod (Bond), a local artist and smuggler who uses the pub for his less legitimate line of work. Things become heated when McLeod's former girlfriend Helen (Dianne Foster) appears at the pub and in a fit of jealousy threatens to unveil the secrets of Jane's past. With customs officer Inspector Bromley (John Horsley) also circling, it looks set to be a very trying time for Jane and Duncan as they attempt to build a new life.
