He began racing motocross in the '60s and raced flat-track motorcycles, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, and nearly anything else with wheels, well into the 2010s. However, he didn't set foot in a sprint car until the age of 47 in 1990, at the spring World of Outlaws race in Knoxville. He was the winner of the 1998 Masters Classic at Knoxville.
