Publisher's Synopsis
A significant element in the total cost of repairs in buildings is attached to resealing of the external envelope. This book is the outcome of a collaboration amongst sealant manufacturers, users and reach bodies under the chairmanship of Professor Alec Beevers. The use of sealants has grown rapidly over the past three decades, largely as a consequence of new materials and innovative designs. However, the expected life of a sealed joint is between 10 and 20 years so there is an increasingly large number of buildings at or near the limit of their sealant life. Resealing is significantly more complex than sealing, a problem which this book addresses.
