This book originated from a symposium at the annual meeting of the American Educational Research Association in Washington, 1987. Twelve countries contributed writing about events which have affected policies, practices and attitudes to education and teacher education. The reader is invited to search for comparable themes and issues in the research noting how it is done, who does it, it's influence on practice and policy, what we learned, and the directions to be taken in the future.
