Salut has been designed as a one year introductory course in French. It assumes a minimum of 90 contact minutes a week for a school year, but can be used more of less intensively. It has been developed by a group of teachers and advisers in East Sussex. All the materials have been classroom-tested in a wide range of schools in the country.;This language course encourages communication skills (both production and reception) from the very start and integrates the listening, speaking, reading and writing processes in a carefully structured sequence of material.;It is pupil-centred with three pupil workbooks as the core of the scheme. It provides a range of teacher's material which support the classroom use of the scheme. It has been developed in association with the Ecole Normale Etiolles in the Department of d'Essonne.
