Publisher's Synopsis

Matthew Rhys stars in this drama adapted from the novel by Daphne du Maurier. In 1952, in the lead up to the coronation of The Queen, unemployed teacher John Standing (Rhys) comes face-to-face with a man who looks uncannily like him, Johnny Spence (also Rhys). As a result of a drunken night, Standing finds himself living out his doppelgänger's life and the troubles that come with it including his two mistresses, a drug addict mother, a failed business and a deteriorating manor. Despite this, he grows close to his new family and begins to have a positive impact on the household when Spence shows up with bad intentions.
