I had noticed this anomaly whenever someone visiting from Louisiana was conversing with my parents. What I wasn't quite ready for was how wonderful the native drawl rolled over everyone's tongue when they felt at home with someone. This way of speaking was pure poetry; the kind of speaking that reduced everyone to the friendliest of terms. It was the type of language that welcomed everyone to be family. Yes, I loved it, yes.
