While riding through the Kansas badlands, cowboy Clay Jared finds himself with a bullet in his back after killing three outlaws. Taking their bodies to the nearest town, Rattlesnake Flats, to collect the reward, he meets beautiful, idealistic Lauren Goodwin, a doctor from the East. Their lifestyles conflict and a love-hate relationship develop between them. Lauren hates violence and uses her hands to save people. Jared, however, uses his hands to kill men in a land where only the quick on the draw survive. Jared decides to take the job as deputy to help the town's old, out-gunned marshal. It isn't long before Jared notices something is wrong in the Flats. He starts prying and opening old wounds the town would rather keep secret. What will Jared uncover?
