Publisher's Synopsis

""Sir Patient Fancy"" is a play written by the English playwright Aphra Behn, first performed in 1678. The play is a comedy of manners and centers around the character of Sir Patient Fancy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen in love with a young woman named Isabella. Isabella, however, is in love with another man, and Sir Patient's attempts to win her affections are comically thwarted at every turn. The play also features a subplot involving Sir Patient's daughter, who is being courted by a young man of questionable character. Throughout the play, Behn satirizes the societal norms of the time, particularly the idea of arranged marriages and the power dynamics between men and women. ""Sir Patient Fancy"" is considered one of Behn's most successful plays and is still performed today.Sir Pat. How! her whole Family!
