The Skillscan series is a range of straightforward, practical booklets which introduce the concepts of undertaking a competence based award and assist the user in selecting the type and level of NVQ and SVQ. Each booklet is related to a specific NVQ.;Each booklet contains an introduction and user guide which explains how the booklet relates to the relevant NVQ, who it can help and how to get started. The main body of the text consists of activity checklists, which correspond to each element of the NVQ units. These are in tick box format and are a quick and easy way for the user to identify how well their work activities and experience relate to the requirements of the NVQ. After the activity checklists have been completed, the findings are transferred to a summary sheet, and space is provided for action planning on a follow-up sheet. Advice is also given on what to do and who to speak to when the individual has decided to move on to an NVQ.
