Symphony 2 is a comprehensive, integrated software package that is designed to manage and manipulate information. This text considers the three fundamental styles of information management. The first is the spreadsheet where information is stored in regular rows and columns as in a balance sheet or a ledger. Next is the card-index file where each card contains information stored in a standardized format that is repeated on each card. The third style is the letter or document which is used to store information in a more general, less structured manner. Each of these styles of information management is possible in Symphony within their respective environments.;Before you begin managing information you will enter the Symphony system and look at each environment in turn. In this way you will become familiar with each of the different environments and the features that they have in common.
