At the end of World War II, Ansco announced their new, semi-professional Ansco Automatic Reflex. Designed to compete against the high-end twin-lens reflexes from Europe, the Automatic Reflex was intended to make a mark and put Ansco on the map as a serious camera manufacturer. Instead, it was late to get to market and poorly received and Ansco abandoned the "serious amateur" segment less than 10 years later. What happened? This is the story of the Ansco Automatic Reflex twin lens camera and the company that tried to make its mark.
