Publisher's Synopsis

This book, and its predecessors, are directed at all forms of accompaniment in which
the guitar is the key harmonic element but principally when supporting the human voice.
The guitar is most often heard accompanying song from the earliest recorded melodies
to the present day. The previous volumes dealt with the simplest forms of playing an
harmonic accompaniment (chords) and evolved to cover more complex styles so that
good guitarists could make their own decisions and arrangements. The books can be
used as a guitar tutor, and I have taught many pupils using this system, but to complete
that process we must tackle how to read music on the guitar. This final volume is intended
to show how that skill may be learnt and developed. It's easier than you think yet at the
same time more complicated, but definitely worthwhile. You may be tempted to give
up in the early stages, don't worry it gets easier. Guitarists can rarely read the way an
orchestral player can but we don't need that level of skill to approach and understand

guitar music better and as a result play it better.
