This book represents the "proceedings" of the International Conference on Research in the Consumer Interest, held at the Wingspread Conference Center, Racine, Wisconsin on August 16-19, 1986. The "Wingspread Conference" brought together 75 researchers and consumer leaders from all over the world. As its title indicates, the purpose of this book and the conference on which it is based is to delineate "The Frontier" of research in the consumer interest. Simultaneously, this book should lay a foundation in research for consumer economics, consumer education, and consumer affairs.
