Back in a time when people and animals lived together in harmony, in the polar regions of the Arctic, a bear-child is stolen away from his mother by Raven. The mother bear is devastated but she holds her one remaining child chose. Meanwhile a hunter and his wife find the stolen bear child and, wrapping him in sealskin, they sing him songs of the ice, the wind and the great white bears. Seven years pass, and Raven lures the child out on to the ice, where his Bear brother finds him and takes him back to his mother, the Great White Bear. But by now the human father is on the trail, determined to kill the creature that has taken his child.This beautiful story, inspired by Inuit mythology, is stunningly illustrated in watercolour, depicting all the beauty and harmony of the Arctic polar regions and their human and animal guardians.
