Rob finds a Jackdaw chick and brings it home to keep as a pet. But Joe the Jackdaw causes no end of mess at home, and then he starts flying into other houses and stealing shiny things, and so the ultimatum comes: Joe must go. But then Joe discovers green glass on the common. Lots of it. And it's Anglo-Saxon! So the campaign to save the common is finally going to work, thanks to Joe the Jackdaw.
