Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Wheat Situation: May-June 1944
The first official indication of the rye production issued as of June 1 placed the crop at million bushels, only slightly above the million produced in 1943. With farm and commercial stocks at the begin ning of the new year estimated at above 26 million bushels, total domestic supplies would be 58 million bushels. Food requirements are estimated at about 12 million bushels and seed at 6 million, which would leave substantial quantities for alcohol, spirits, and feed.
