Paul Albert Bell grew up in Oklahoma and after high school he enlisted in the U.S.Navy in 1940. He was attached to the U.S.S. Quail, a minesweeper. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese on the 6th of December 1942, at the fall of Corregidor. He spent 3 1/2 years in a Japanese prison camp in Japan. One of the main things that helped him survive was his faith. The story and his poems tell of his great faith, and of his love for his family, along with a deep care for others. He died at the age of 93, but he is still lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
