Publisher's Synopsis
This A4 sized, high quality exercise book is dedicated to teaching children from 8-12 years old the times tables facts and why these facts are so vital in solving number problems. It contains 40 worksheets and is written by an experienced tutor of maths to dyslexic children. Most children who struggle to learn the times tables, do so, because verbal rote learning is the wrong way for them to learn the facts. This book provides visual and verbal clues to the times tables' facts. The reader has to select the number sequence of each times table from a mixed list of answers as opposed to simply copying a given answer; thus they are on task and engaged with the subject as opposed to just losing interest. Word problems are included to emphasise the benefit of knowing the times tables in real life problem solving. The exercise book also teaches the reader to use clues to aid their reasoning and to recognise patterns in the answers. Odd and even numbers are taught and tested as are: lowest common multiples, highest common factors, square numbers and square roots. And a colour worksheet teaches the reader the names of shapes up to decagons. The reader is encouraged to do anything they like to make the facts more memorable as they go along, colour in the images or use differently coloured pens for each times table. It's their journey through the times tables. Their assimilation is continually assessed.
