Publisher's Synopsis
Controlling his own destiny is a trait that Farooq Kathwari exemplifies repeatedly in Trailblazer. His extraordinary life begins in politically divided Kashmir, where his famiy was persecuted by government officials. All before the age of fifteen, Farooq experienced living as a refugee, helping his mother go through electroconvulsive therapy, and sleeping with a gun under his pillow. Self-reliant and resilient, he fought his way to come to the United States where he worked during the day while attending NYU graduate school at night. His first entrepreneur endeavour was selling Kashmiri crafts out of an old warehouse, and he eventually turned this into a joint venture, KEA International, with Ethan Allen.
